3rd March 2010
LUTON 24th February 2010 CANCELLED. If you have booked to go to this seminar we will contact you re a refund.
Dear Care Provider,
We have become increasingly aware during the last year of the concerns of providers of services to people with Learning Disabilities as well as service users and their families, about the direction that care of younger adults is taking. We know that local and national policies are having an impact in the following areas:
• The lack of choice about where care is provided and the shift from residential care to supported living.
• The lack of consistency in the use of costing models that are increasingly being used.
• The anomalies that exist which can: - Prevent service users from opening a bank account or - Prevent service users from withdrawing money from bank accounts.
• The impact on care homes of service users who are still funded through the Personal Rights system.
We know that all of the above issues will not affect you but expect that some of them may be causing concern. National Care Association is keen to bring together responsible care providers to discuss the issues and decide any action that might be taken. We have arranged a number of relatively small seminars (maximum of 50 people to attend) to discuss and identify the issues and to decide future action either by lobbying central government or by raising public awareness of what is happening. Officers of National Care Association will lead the seminar.
We are delighted to invite you to attend one of these seminars which are being held during February and March in Kent, Somerset and Shropshire.
Please see attached booking form with details of venues and dates.
I would be grateful if you could let us know if you are able to attend by completing the reply slip on the back of the booking form.
With best wishes.
Yours sincerely,
Sheila Scott
